Major Manganese Mines, Mn-Ore Stocks At Wharves Are Estimated To Be 2.10 Million Tons As Excess According to an information from China, the price of manganese ore to be shipped to China in July of 2010 will remain unchanged. The prices of manganese ores for China were successively risen for shipments in May and June but major manganese mines are thought to have levelled off the price for July shipment. It is also informed in China that major manganese mines so far do not say about the price for August shipment but are supposed to roll over the price for August from that for July.
The circumstances surrounding manganese ores in China are moving to change. Approximately 2.10 million tons of manganese ore imported into China have been accumulated at wharves and the sales have become sluggish. Also, domestic prices of manganese ferro-alloys in China have weakened and, by having felt a repugnance for the fallen prices of steel products in domestic market of China, domestic price of silico-manganese in China has inclined to fall. In view of this change of the market situation, a basic tone to rise prices of manganese ores has made a pause.
Major manganese mines have risen by about 11% the prices of manganese ores for shipment to China in June of 2010 and the contents are <> medium grade lumpy ore with Mn 44% : at US$8.70 per Mn 1% CIF (compared with US$7.85 for May shipment), <> medium grade chips ore with Mn 43% : at US$8.35 per Mn 1% CIF (US$7.50 for May) and <> high grade fines ore with Mn 48% : at US$9.40 per Mn 1% CIF (US$8.45 for May). Therefore, in comparison with the prices fixed for May shipment, those for June shipment have risen by 10.8 - 11.2%. For a reference, the price of manganese carbonate ore with Mn 38% for shipment to China in July have remained as unchanged from that for June shipment.
The price of medium grade lumpy manganese ore with Mn 44% settled for shipment to China in January of 2010 was US$6.50 per Mn 1% CIF and, accordingly, major manganese mines in overseas countries have had a considerable rise of 33.8% for prices of manganese ores to be shipped to China in June compared to those for January shipment. In the course of time, reflecting the steeply risen prices of manganese ores, speculative imports of manganese ores have surged in China and the total quantity of manganese ores imported into China and stocked at wharves have swelled up to approximately 2.10 million tons.
The latest quantities of manganese ores stocked at wharves of discharging ports in China are estimated to be <> at Lianyungang port : 100,000 tons, <> at Zhanjing port : 130,000 tons, <> at Fangcheng port : 270,000 tons, <> at Qinzhou port : 670,000 tons, <> at Tianjin port : 720,000 tons, <> at Beihai port : 200,000 tons and <> total : 2,090,000 tons, corresponding to the imports for 2 months. In addition, by taking into account of the quantities newly contracted for imports in May and June, the stocks of manganese ores in China will have a possibility to accumulate further. In order to resolve a feeling of the excessive stocks of manganese ores, Chinese producers of ferro-alloys are thought to move to adjust their imports of manganese ores. |
